What is Reiki?

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese word and a Japanese healing art. “Rei” means “God’s Wisdom or Higher Power” and “Ki” means “Life Force Energy.” (Pronounced Ray-Key) By definition Reiki means “Divine Universal Life Force Energy.”

Reiki is an energy healing modality that can help you rebalance your energies. The Reiki energy, when received, works for the highest and greatest good of the recipient, which can be a person, place, object, animal, or situation. Reiki has it’s own innate intelligence and goes where it is needed to go to bring healing to the person, animal, place, object or situation.

The origins of Reiki and how it can complement western medicine.

Reiki is a very specific form of energy healing, in which hands are placed just off the body or lightly touching the body, as in “laying on of hands.” Reiki can also be done “long-distance,” as a form of prayer.

According to many versions of its origin, Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese seeker of spiritual truths, brought the Reiki method of healing into human awareness in 1922 after a deep spiritual experience. He is said to have begun teaching others after a serious earthquake hit Japan and he felt urged to spread his knowledge.

In a Reiki session, the practitioner is seeking to transmit Universal Life Energy to the client. The intention is to create deep relaxation, to help speed healing, reduce pain, and decrease other symptoms you may be experiencing.

How does remote / distant Reiki work?

Everything is made up of energy, if the Reiki practitioner intents to send healing energy to the client, and the client intend to receive it, then the space between them has no relevance.

What to expect duing a remote / distant Reiki session with Maya.

During a remote / distant Reiki session I will be in my Reiki room performing Reiki, sending healing energy to you. Meanwhile you rest in a quiet space at home, sitting or laying down, relaxed and ready to receive the Reiki healing energy. At the end of the session I pick an Angel card with a special message for you.

Session can be done over the phone, facetime or in a zoom meeting.

What Reiki Healing can do for you.

There have been many other controlled studies submitted to peer-journals and to The Touchstone Process for review. Ailments and disorders that tested favorably to Reiki treatment include:

1. Post operative pain after tooth extraction

2. Cognition in elderly, related to dementia/Alzheimers

3. Pre-operative relaxation and post-op pain

4. Pain in chronically ill patients

5. Depression and stress

6. Well-being in Reiki practitioners

As of 2009, The Touchstone Process has evaluated 25 test studies that appeared in peer-review journals evaluating the merits of Reiki Treatments. Taking into consideration only the most rigorously controlled studies, the team reported that 83% showed moderate to strong evidence in support of Reiki as a viable, therapeutic healing modality. Only one study proved solidly negative and that was for the treatment of fibromyalgia-associated pain levels. As is the case with conventional drug treatments, not all therapies prove to be effective.
